Not necessarily. While “horizontal loops” require more space, we often install vertical loops for homes with smaller yards. In this setup, we use a drilling rig to sink the pipes straight down into the earth (usually 150–300 feet), requiring a surface area no larger than a few parking spaces. We can even install loops under a driveway or a future patio.
